What does Spiritual Bankruptcy mean to you?
Romans 3:10-12 As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”
Isaiah 64:6 All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

What kind of bankruptcy did we declare?

• Chapter 7 Permanent – no future business
• Chapter 11 Temporary – delay the payment
• We say permanent bankruptcy, but we live like it was temporary

Colossians 2:6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him.

We really don’t understand that we are bankrupt

• Justification based on grace – your forgiveness of sins
• Glorification based on grace – your ticket to Heaven
• Sanctification based on works – your growth in Christlikeness
• NO, we are sanctified by grace

Grace & Works are exclusive
Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.
Philippians 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?

“Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far and grace will lead me home”
